Our Gospel today narrates of the Resurrected Christ’s appearing before His disciples (Luke 24:35-49).
From the looks of it, the disciples were not ready for that encounter—they were terrified, startled, and doubtful (cf 24:37, 41)—even if in some lines before, they had been able to encounter Him in the breaking of the bread (cf Lk 24: 35).
But even with that kind of ‘less-than-ideal’ reception, Jesus comes and does what He needs to do.
His very presence gave way to worship, great joy and obedience (24:50-53).
What is asked of us is “to be witnesses” of the greet deeds He has wrought in our lives (24:48).
