Our Gospel today (Mark 16:9-15) offers not just one, but two instances when witnesses who carry the news that Christ is risen are met with resounding unbelief.
It is understandable if those who expressed their doubt were people from the other camp. But no. They were His disciples. His very own. They were those who heard Him preach, and witnessed–first hand– His miraculous deeds.
But Jesus follows a distinct logic that is beyond our grasp: His very disciples who had not received Him were tasked to proclaim Him to others.
The story of the disciples is ours, too.
We also have our own share of doubt and disbelief.
But Jesus goes beyond this to show us that His love is greater than all these.
